Protecting your data matters to us. We process personal data solely in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG). Here you can find out what data we process on this website and around the festival.
1. Who is responsible?
CINEMA ARTS – Verein zur Förderung von Vielfalt in Film, Kunst und Medien, 1060 Vienna, Austria, ZVR 178168029. Contact: office@queershortsvienna.at
2. Visiting the website and hosting
This website is operated by an external hosting provider. When you visit it, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data such as your IP address, date and time of access, the page requested, referrer URL and browser and device type. This is required to provide the website securely and reliably. The provider also creates aggregated visitor statistics (e.g. page views, source, device type, country) that do not allow us to identify individual people. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
3. Cookies and fonts
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, nor analytics services such as Google Analytics. At most, technically necessary settings such as your language choice are stored. Our typeface is loaded directly from our own server; no connection is made to Google Fonts or other font providers.
4. Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your name, email address, chosen language and the time of your consent. We use this data solely to send you information about the programme, tickets and invitations from Queer Shorts Vienna. After signing up you will receive a confirmation email. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time without giving reasons – a short email to office@queershortsvienna.at is enough. Your data is kept until you unsubscribe and then deleted. It is stored in our hosting provider's database (data processor).
5. Contact by email
If you write to us, we process your details to answer your request and any follow-up questions (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We do not pass this data on without your consent.
6. Film submissions
Films are submitted via the FilmFreeway platform, where FilmFreeway's own privacy policy also applies. We receive your submission data (e.g. name, contact details, film information, screener link) and process it for selection, programming, screening and communication with you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). For selected films, we publish the film title, the filmmakers' names and film information in the programme, on the website and on social media.
7. Photos and videos at the festival
At our events we take photos and videos for documentation and communication (website, social media, press, funding reports). We point this out on site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in documenting and promoting the festival (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); for portraits or close-ups we ask for your consent where required (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you don't want to be photographed, please let our team know on site. If you would like a published image of you removed, email office@queershortsvienna.at and we will take care of it promptly.
8. Social media
Our website links to our profiles on Instagram, Facebook and Bluesky. These are simple links, not embedded plugins: data is only sent to the platform once you click a link. The platform's own privacy policy then applies.
9. Disclosure and transfers to third countries
We only share your data where necessary for the purposes described – for example with technical service providers (hosting, database, email delivery) acting as data processors. Where providers are based outside the EU/EEA, transfers only take place on the basis of an EU Commission adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses (Art. 44 et seq. GDPR). We do not sell data and do not carry out profiling.
10. Storage period
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or as required by statutory retention periods.
11. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw any consent at any time with effect for the future. Just email office@queershortsvienna.at.
12. Complaints
If you believe we are not processing your data correctly, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
